Yes.... that's one of the many accolades we gave my mom-- " ninja mama" because of her knack for giving us very, very pleasant surprises. I remember when i was still a junior in secondary (high)school. Here i was; a somewhat shy, "quiet" pre-teen who was all the way up north in Jos Plateau state; a 2day road-trip from my home in Lagos.I had no expectations of having my parents visit on school visiting days because of distance and the finances. I was content with letters and the chance 3rd party visits. But then this visiting day, in my dorm; my name rang out all over the dorm compound" Yemisi, Yemisi, ur mummy's here". I was sure they were poking fun at me as they usually do, 'cos it was a known fact amongst my friends that i was in the "alone- in-dorm on visiting day" category, so they'd always joyfully share their home food wt me. But this day, i was the champ!!, i shared my food!!! Cos when i stepped out from my dorm or was it class then??!-- there she was--- my mum! she'd decided to surprise me! i struggled to keep the lump in my throat down as i ran as fast as i could into my mother's arms. I was the champ dat day; 'cos even if it was only just the one time; everyone one of my friends remembered my visiting day and how they also followed me towards my mom..... my "ninja mama"
